Breaking News - Two Derby City Councillors join Conservative Group
Sinfin Ward councillor, Hardial Singh Dhamrait and Boulton Ward Councillor, Frank Leeming have both announced tonight that they will be joining the Derby City Conservative Group. The Conservative group is now the second largest group within the council with 14 members all working hard to represent and serve many areas of Derby.
Mr Leeming said: "I have taken this decision in the best interests of my constituents."
Mr Dhamrait stated that he had made the decision because he felt the Labour Party was not acting in the best interests if his constituents. He said, "I believe the Conservatives have a more fair approach to funding local wards and that we will ensure Sinfin & Osmaston receives more money than it does currently.
Sinfin & Osmaston needs the investment and we believe it is long overdue."
Derby Conservative Group leader, Philip Hickson, said after welcoming the two new members, "We are delighted that Hardial and Frank have joined us."
